Lincoln Wheat Cents (1909 - 1958)
Introduced in 1909 for Abraham Lincoln’s centennial, the Lincoln Wheat cent was the first regular U.S. coin to portray a real person. Victor D. Brenner’s design paired Lincoln’s portrait with two wheat ears on the reverse through 1958.
